P Diddy's By several entertainment industry estimates, P Diddy is worth $54 million. His net worth is likely to have grown as a result of his massive hip-hop empire that includes Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment (of which he is the founder and chief executive officer), advertising company Blueflame Marketing & Advertising, a restaurant called Justin's and his own clothing line, Sean John. Typical of any New York mogul, bad boy Combs also keeps a mansion in the Hamptons.
So how did it all start? Sean Combs was just two years old when his father, Melvin, was murdered and his mother Janice decided to move the family from Harlem to the Mount Vernon area. Sean Combs studied at Mount Vernon Montessori School, Mount St. Michael Academy, and Howard University in Washington, D.C. However rather than stay at Howard, Sean Combs enjoyed a rapid ascent in the music industry. He became Director of A&R at Uptown Entertainment at just 19 years of age, where he was instrumental in the career of amongst others, Mary J Blige. In 1993 Combs left Upton and later that year established Bad Boy Entertainment. It was to be the start of a hugely succesful business empire. Bad Boy Entertainment's early successes included Craig Mack's 1994 "Flava In Ya Ear" single and Notorious B.I.G.'s debut album "Ready to Die". Sean 'Puffy' Combs continued to produce and remix tracks by several notable artists, but in 1997 he added another string to his bow, when he released his debut single, "Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down", which was US number 1 for nearly two months and heralded the start of a very succesful career for Combs as an artist in his own right. The album "No Way Out" included his tribute to Notorious B.I.G., "I’ll Be Missing You" with Combs rapping over the Police's "Every Breath You Take" with additional vocals by Faith Evans (who had been Notorious B.I.G.'s wife). In the midst of feuding between East and West Coast gangsta rap, in March 1997, the Notorious B.I.G. was murdered. Six months earlier the west coast's 2Pac had been murdered. Combs continued his success at collaborating with other artists with "Come With Me" with Jimmy Page based on the Led Zeppelin track "Kashmir". Sean "Puffy" Combs has been no stranger to controversy in his personal life. After he was acquitted in March 2001 of being involved in a nightclub shooting, he announced that he was to be called P. Diddy. As well as his music interests, P Diddy has a fashion label, and supports various community and charitable causes. He has also acted in "Made" and "Monster’s Ball". Combs also has a show on MTV, "Making the Band".
